Edward Chalfie

Ed represents companies nationally and internationally in the protection and enforcement of intellectual property. He thrives on the opportunity to expand the scope of protection available to his clients. Ed represented the winning plaintiff in the landmark U.S. Supreme Court trademark case Qualitex Company vs. Jacobson Products Co., Inc., which unanimously accepted his argument that a product's color can be registered as a trademark. Ed has served as lead counsel in infringement and anti-counterfeiting actions, intellectual property-related insurance coverage disputes, and opposition and cancellation proceedings in the USPTO. Ed has particular expertise in the international protection and enforcement of intellectual property.

Something Personal: Ed and his wife Sheila live in suburban Chicago with their two dogs, Lucy and Coco.
